Wild Ones Educational Program

Free educational program hosted by our local Wild Ones group at the Carnegie Library Building Upper Level, Petoskey. This is the building attached to the Crooked Tree Center for the Arts at 461 E. Mitchell Street. In this presentation, an overview of the steps taken to establish an acre pollinator meadow in Readmond Township will be discussed. The project got underway in the winter of 2021 with the clearing of some invasive Scotch pine trees. With help from a local farmer, the soil was worked in the summer of 2021, and a cover crop of oats established by Autumn 2021. Subsequent decisions to be shared involved whether to use an herbicide to kill off knapweed and other methods for “weed management.“
