All About HWA: Presentation & Guided Hike

Join CAKE CISMA and Coordinators Wade Foster & Katie Gray for a free, guided hike and presentation on the invasive pest, Hemlock Woolly Adelgid!

Learn how to identify this emerging threat to our forests, understand its impact, and discover how you can help protect hemlock trees in Michigan. We’ll start with an informative talk, then head out on a scenic winter hike to practice tree identification & HWA detection techniques in the field. Be sure to dress warmly, wear sturdy winter footwear, and get ready to explore the outdoors while making a difference! Meet at the shared CAKE CISMA/Antrim Conservation District office located at 4820 Stover Road, Bellaire MI 49615 We can’t wait to see you there!

What to bring:

  • Snowshoes or winter hiking boots (optional but recommended)

  • Camera or binoculars to observe winter wildlife

  • Warm clothing—dress for the weather and check the forecast in advance

  • Sunscreen for protection on bright, snowy days

If anyone in your party requires special accommodations, such as an interpreter or assistance with uneven terrain, please contact CAKE CISMA at least three weeks before the event to discuss arrangements.
