Learn how to identify this emerging threat to our forests, understand its impact, and discover how you can help protect hemlock trees in Michigan. We’ll start with an informative talk, then head out on a scenic winter hike to practice tree identification & HWA detection techniques in the field. Be sure to dress warmly, wear sturdy winter footwear, and get ready to explore the outdoors while making a difference! What to bring:
Snowshoes or winter hiking boots (optional but recommended)
Camera or binoculars to observe winter wildlife
Warm clothing—dress for the weather and check the forecast in advance
Sunscreen for protection on bright, snowy days
