5 pm - Nature walk guided by Amy Lipson of Little Traverse Conservancy. We were hoping to tour their new conservancy “Place of Peacefulness” in Bay Shore, but the walkways are under construction at this time, and not ready for visitors. Instead, Amy will lead us through the Susan Creek Nature Preserve. The entrance to Susan Creek is located directly off of US-31, 0.6 miles south of Big Rock Road (the former access to the Big Rock Restoration Site). Meet in the parking area at 5:00. 6 pm - Dinner and meeting at Beth Cowie’s house at 12717 Waller Road. This is just a couple of minutes away from the Susan Creek Preserve. As you leave the Susan Creek parking area, turn left and continue to Waller Road (just past the Charlevoix Pool). Take a right onto Waller and go just past the first intersection (Martin Road) where the tennis courts and fire station are. The house will be on your right. It’s white with black window trim. There is a main driveway and along the side and a small parking pad near the front door.  Dinner: We will do a casual cook-out. You can bring a side dish or dessert. Let Beth know if you would like a vegetarian main (veggie burger), and what you plan to bring.
