The next NMMGA seed sorting and packaging event will take place on March 17 from 2 pm to 4:30 pm at the Charlevoix Conservation District at 303 North Street, Boyne City. Click here for map directions.
The group of 8 members attending our first session drove there in a winter storm and in 2.5 hours, sorted and packaged 140 seed envelopes of 18 different plant varieties while talking about gardening and telling stories. Polly Cheney shared a delicious banana chocolate bread!
Join us at our second work seed sorting and packing session. If possible, please bring a cookie sheet with an edge or shallow cardboard box or other flat object to keep the seeds contained while sorting and packaging. Extra cookie sheets will be available.
We may also be making plant identification stakes, too! That means making decisions on which seed typess to give away at the Arbor Day event in Boyne City and the NMMGA Annual Plant Sale in order to prepare the plant identification stakes.
Let's hope for dry roads and sunny skies weather for the March 17 meet up! Let me know by return email, text or phone call (248-807-1546) that you are interested in attending. I can better plan the room and get materials ready knowing how many are coming. Beverages are available; bring a snack to share if you would like!
